Southern Poverty Law Center is hiring a Planned Giving Engagement Officer

Responsibilities

  • Initiate tailored communication with donors considering legacy gifts and record all contact details in the donor database.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of planned giving and donor recognition materials, such as welcome packets, acknowledgments, and correspondence for stock transfers.
  • Support the implementation of marketing initiatives for planned giving through direct mail, email, and online platforms while upholding data integrity.
  • Enter and manage planned giving data in the CRM system, apply correct donor classifications, and generate documentation for stock donations.
  • Track performance metrics for planned giving campaigns and donor engagement, follow up as needed, and prepare reports on program outcomes, including stock gifts and charitable distributions from retirement accounts.
  • Stay informed about current practices in planned giving and philanthropy through continuous learning and professional growth activities.
  • Address questions from potential and current donors through various channels including in-person meetings, phone calls, emails, and online forms.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned that align with the responsibilities of this position.

Compensation

This is an exempt position with a minimum starting salary of $69,702 per year, adjusted based on experience.

Work Arrangement

Remote position, with work conducted from home or in states where the organization operates; may include access to organizational offices.

Team

Reports to the Senior Manager, Planned Giving

Other

  • The role requires four or more annual trips for donor meetings and participation in cultivation and stewardship events, involving up to 25% travel.
  • Work is conducted in standard office settings with no exposure to hazardous conditions or significant physical requirements.
  • This position is covered by the Washington-Baltimore News Guild.
