LIGENTEC is hiring a PCM Design Engineer

About the Role

The role involves designing and developing photonic integrated circuits, with a focus on high-performance applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in photonic design and experience with relevant tools and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop photonic integrated circuits for various applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate designs into larger systems.
  • Conduct simulations and analyses to optimize circuit performance.
  • Document design specifications and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design issues to meet project requirements.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in photonic technology.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise.
  • Support the development of new design methodologies and tools.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.
  • Work closely with fabrication teams to ensure manufacturability.
  • Develop and maintain design libraries and IP blocks.
  • Contribute to the improvement of design processes and workflows.
  • Provide technical support to other engineering teams as needed.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for new design concepts.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand and meet their requirements.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations and reports.
  • Support the prototyping and testing of new designs.
  • Ensure designs are robust and scalable for future applications.
  • Participate in the development of design automation tools.
  • Contribute to the creation of design guidelines and best practices.
  • Support the training of junior engineers in design methodologies.

Nice to Have

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience with photonic integrated circuit testing and characterization.
  • Knowledge of advanced photonic materials and devices.
  • Experience with photonic integrated circuit packaging.
  • Familiarity with optical communication systems.
  • Experience with design for testability (DFT) principles.
  • Knowledge of optical signal processing techniques.
  • Experience with photonic integrated circuit reliability testing.
  • Familiarity with optical network protocols and standards.
  • Experience with photonic integrated circuit design for specific applications.
