Responsibilities
- Process monthly payroll for employees in Germany with precision and on schedule.
- Verify payroll data for accuracy, including hours, wages, deductions, and tax withholdings.
- Ensure compliance with German labor laws, tax regulations, and social security requirements.
- Collaborate with local partners and authorities to resolve payroll-related issues.
- Respond to employee inquiries about payslips, taxes, and deductions in a timely manner.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in German payroll legislation.
- Support audits by providing accurate payroll records and documentation.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Reconcile payroll data with accounting systems to ensure consistency.
- Identify and correct discrepancies in payroll inputs or outputs.
- Generate payroll reports for management and compliance purposes.
- Work closely with HR and finance teams to align payroll processes.
- Ensure secure handling of sensitive employee compensation data.
- Contribute to process improvements to increase payroll efficiency and accuracy.
- Support onboarding and offboarding payroll setup for new and departing employees.
Requirements
- Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably in a multinational environment.
- Strong understanding of German payroll regulations and tax systems.
- Familiarity with payroll software and HR information systems.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken.
- Experience with month-end and year-end payroll procedures.
- Knowledge of social security contributions and statutory deductions in Germany.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
- Problem-solving skills with a focus on compliance and accuracy.
- Experience handling confidential information with discretion.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Certification in payroll or HR administration is a plus.
- Adaptability to changing regulations and business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with international payroll systems.
- Knowledge of local labor laws beyond payroll, such as vacation and sick pay.
- Experience supporting remote teams across time zones.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations like GDPR.
