Responsibilities

  • Process monthly payroll for employees in Germany with precision and on schedule.
  • Verify payroll data for accuracy, including hours, wages, deductions, and tax withholdings.
  • Ensure compliance with German labor laws, tax regulations, and social security requirements.
  • Collaborate with local partners and authorities to resolve payroll-related issues.
  • Respond to employee inquiries about payslips, taxes, and deductions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in German payroll legislation.
  • Support audits by providing accurate payroll records and documentation.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Reconcile payroll data with accounting systems to ensure consistency.
  • Identify and correct discrepancies in payroll inputs or outputs.
  • Generate payroll reports for management and compliance purposes.
  • Work closely with HR and finance teams to align payroll processes.
  • Ensure secure handling of sensitive employee compensation data.
  • Contribute to process improvements to increase payroll efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding payroll setup for new and departing employees.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably in a multinational environment.
  • Strong understanding of German payroll regulations and tax systems.
  • Familiarity with payroll software and HR information systems.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience with month-end and year-end payroll procedures.
  • Knowledge of social security contributions and statutory deductions in Germany.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
  • Problem-solving skills with a focus on compliance and accuracy.
  • Experience handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Certification in payroll or HR administration is a plus.
  • Adaptability to changing regulations and business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with international payroll systems.
  • Knowledge of local labor laws beyond payroll, such as vacation and sick pay.
  • Experience supporting remote teams across time zones.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations like GDPR.
  • Background in technology or SaaS companies.
