NMI is hiring a Patient Support Specialist

About the Role

This position is responsible for delivering consistent, compassionate support to patients navigating healthcare programs, ensuring clear communication and resolution of inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to patient inquiries via phone and email
  • Guide patients through enrollment and onboarding processes
  • Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and outcomes
  • Assist with insurance and billing questions using established protocols
  • Escalate complex cases to appropriate departments efficiently
  • Ensure compliance with privacy and data protection standards
  • Provide updates to patients on case status and next steps
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers to verify treatment plans
  • Track and report common patient concerns for process improvement
  • Follow up with patients to confirm resolution of issues
  • Educate patients on available resources and support tools
  • Adhere to service level expectations for response times
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare policies and offerings
  • Participate in team training and performance reviews
  • Support quality assurance initiatives through documentation accuracy
  • Use internal systems to manage and update patient cases
  • Identify opportunities to improve patient experience
  • Communicate changes in program guidelines to patients
  • Assist in onboarding new team members when needed
  • Maintain professionalism during high-volume or sensitive interactions

Nice to Have

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in health sciences or related field
  • Certification in medical administration or patient services
  • Experience with CRM platforms in healthcare settings
  • Bilingual communication abilities
  • Prior work in telehealth or remote patient support
