About the Role

UPMC Greene is looking for a Patient Services Representative to be the welcoming face for patients and ensure a smooth, positive experience from arrival through departure. You will manage front desk operations, educate patients on their financial responsibilities and available technologies, and support the administrative functions of the practice.

What You'll Do

  • Provide a warm greeting and guide patients through self-arrival technology or desk check-in.
  • Collect copayments and other applicable patient payments at the point of service.
  • Confirm and update patient registration, demographics, and insurance information.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments within the practice and connect patients to resources for ancillary services.
  • Help patients navigate the healthcare system with clear instructions and follow up on unresolved questions.
  • Apply principles of service recovery to address and resolve any service issues.
  • Register patients in the Biometrics (fingerprint recognition) program and explain its benefits.
  • Promote the MyUPMC patient portal and assist patients with registration.
  • Educate patients on financial responsibility and connect them to advocacy resources as needed.
  • Verify insurance benefits using online systems or telephone inquiries.
  • Obtain necessary consent signatures for treatment and financial responsibility following HIPAA regulations.
  • Appropriately triage phone calls to other areas or clinical providers.
  • Assist with administrative duties including scanning medical records and faxing.
  • Stay informed on the UPMC Patient Portal to confidently guide patients on its use.

What We're Looking For

  • Completion of high school graduate or equivalent.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with personal computer-based applications, other office equipment, and proficient typing skills.
  • Two years of experience in a medical, billing, fiscal, or customer service function.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems.
