Escape Velocity Entertainment is looking for an Outsourcing Character Artist to direct character cosmetics and manage external partners. In this role, you’ll bridge internal art teams with vendors to ensure assets are delivered to spec and fully implemented.
What You’ll Do
- Direct and implement high-quality character cosmetics for characters and items.
- Collaborate between Concept Art, Character, Rigging, and Animation teams to develop workflows.
- Create character art from concept art and reference materials, adapting to the project style.
- Communicate with, support, and provide feedback on work from external vendors.
- Fully implement content in engine and ensure smooth performance across all platforms.
- Train and unblock outsourcing partners by providing best practices, samples, and schedule support.
- Resolve ambiguity quickly and champion sustainable, scalable production practices.
What We’re Looking For
- Proficiency in industry-standard software: Unreal, Substance Painter, Maya, Zbrush.
- Strong attention to detail and clear organizational skills.
- Ability to problem-solve large-scale asset management and technical pipeline inefficiencies.
- A solid grasp of game feel, design affordances, and visual shape/color language.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with curiosity for the bigger picture.
- A value for an inclusive and empathetic work culture.
- Demonstrated shipping experience on a game project.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Autodesk Flow Production for tracking and Confluence.
- Experience working on a live service project.

Team & Environment
You’ll collaborate with an internal development team, including concept art, character, rigging, and animation departments. You’ll work with the producer on scheduling and asset delivery.
