Lead the management and optimization of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure environments with a focus on database, middleware, and infrastructure components. This role plays a critical part in maintaining system reliability, performance, and security across hybrid deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and maintain Oracle OCI environments, ensuring seamless integration across database, middleware, and infrastructure layers
- Develop and support Oracle APEX applications and ORDS services to enable efficient data access and reporting
- Configure and manage Oracle WebLogic Server instances, including patching and maintenance cycles
- Lead database upgrades, migrations, and conversions, including transitions from 19c to 26ai
- Design and implement backup, recovery, and replication strategies using RMAN and other tools
- Ensure robust disaster recovery and high availability through DataGuard and failover planning
- Monitor system performance and apply tuning techniques to optimize database efficiency
- Automate routine operations using shell scripts, Ansible, and GitLab pipelines
- Partner with development and operations teams to support smooth application deployment
- Identify potential system risks and resolve critical issues with minimal downtime
- Document configurations, procedures, and best practices for team-wide use
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of direct experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and related systems
- Hands-on work with Oracle APEX (18+), ORDS (22+), WebLogic 14, and Oracle Database 19c/26ai
- Proven experience upgrading databases from 19c to 26ai and managing CDB/PDB architectures
- Strong Linux/Unix and shell scripting skills
- Experience with PDB cloning, RMAN, and backup/recovery operations
- Familiarity with WebLogic patching and maintenance
- Working knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 24ai and Fleet Management for PSU patching
- Experience managing DBaaS in OCI environments
- Proficiency with GitLab, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Understanding of cloud architecture, containerization, and microservices
- Strong scripting ability in Python and JavaScript
- Deep knowledge of database security, performance tuning, and monitoring via OEM
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to support critical systems 24/7
Preferred Background
- Oracle certification (OCIP, OCP, OCE) preferred
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab CI
- Familiarity with API integration and microservices design
