The City of Saskatoon is looking for an Operations Labourer to join the Water and Waste Operations department. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a Supervisor VI to support the maintenance and operation of the city's water and sewer infrastructure.
What You'll Do
- Inspect and clean sewer mains, manholes, catch basins, outfalls, and storm ponds.
- Operate and troubleshoot water system components to de-energize, re-energize, inspect, and maintain hydrants.
- Assist in performing manual labour duties to repair water mains, sanitary and storm sewer mains, and related appurtenances.
- Assist with operating sewer flushing and/or vacuum equipment.
- Operate pumps and miscellaneous equipment.
- Install road warning signs and barricades in accordance with approved standards.
- Comply with current Occupational Health and Safety regulations, including confined space entry procedures.
- Participate in on-going training, including operator certification training as directed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Completion of approved Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection programs/courses within 6 months of hire.
- Pass Level 1 Water Distribution and Level 1 Wastewater Collection Saskatchewan Operator Certification Exams within 12 months of hire.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
- Possession of a valid first aid certificate (training provided upon hire).
- Successful completion of confined space, fall protection, H2S awareness, and Trench Safety training (training provided upon hire).
Nice to Have
- Level 1 Water Distribution and Level 1 Waste Water Collection Operator Certification from the Saskatchewan Operator Certification Board.
Team & Environment
This position reports to a Supervisor VI within various workgroups and is part of the Division of Utilities and Environment, Department of Water and Waste Operations. The role is represented by Labour Group CUPE 859.
Benefits & Compensation
- Hourly rate: $28.41 to $28.70 CAD (2026 rates).

This is an onsite position located in Saskatoon.
