BAE Systems Intelligence & Security is seeking a Principal Operations Engineer to provide expert technical governance for machine safety and compliance. In this role, you will specialize in PUWER (Provision Use Work Equipment Regulations) assessments, ensuring the safe operation of all site equipment and supporting managers across the business.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical expertise, facilitate, and record PUWER assessments on a wide range of equipment including workshop machines, mobile plant, cranes, hoists, doors, barriers, and bespoke development equipment.
- Maintain a sound working knowledge of all Health and Safety regulations, relevant engineering standards, and the machinery directive.
- Deliver timely and consistent PUWER information, advice, and governance to department managers to support the safe, legal, and compliant operation of work equipment.
What We're Looking For
- Professional experience in an Electrical or Mechanical role.
- Previous hands-on experience with PUWER assessments.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technical information and engineering drawings.
Nice to Have
- NEBOSH certification.
- A good understanding of relevant engineering standards.
- A background in equipment maintenance.
Team & Environment
You will join a small, specialist team of 5 members dedicated to PUWER compliance. The role involves extensive collaboration with a variety of stakeholders and teams across the business, including site engineering, site authority, maintenance, and production.
