Department Overview

The Field Service Organization (FSO) is the backbone of our technical support, responsible for upgrading, implementing, and maintaining complex Communication Systems across the West Region (T8). We handle everything from mobile installations and system upgrades to infrastructure optimization and repair. Our team collaborates closely with customers, system managers, engineers, sales teams, project managers, and service partners to get the job done right. This role is based in Greater Los Angeles but covers California, Nevada, and Arizona.

Perform removal and installation of Fixed Network Equipment (FNE) and mobile communications equipment, following R56 Standards and best practices.
Conduct basic troubleshooting and repair of existing equipment installations.
Install/remove 12-volt electronic equipment like Emergency Lights, Sirens, Mobile Computers, Docking Stations, Radio Chargers, Mobile Video Recording Equipment, GPS systems, equipment consoles, safety cages, etc.
Complete comprehensive pre- and post-installation checklists to verify vehicle accessory, light, and component functionality.
Document vehicle condition before and after work.
Record customer details, work performed, hours, parts used, and specific customer instructions.
Accurately report time tracking weekly before manager-determined deadlines.
Maintain and care for all assigned company assets.
Calibrate assigned test equipment and keep the test equipment database current.
Process expense reports per Motorola Solutions HR Guidelines.

Candidate Qualifications:

CET Associate certification within six months of hiring.
Obtain appropriate technical certifications within six months (e.g., ETA Mobile Communications/Electronics Installers or Emergency Vehicle Technician).
R56 Installer Certification within 1 year of hire.
Experience configuring, testing, and optimizing current Motorola two-way radio subscriber equipment.
Associates degree, technical school certification, or military training in related field preferred.
Southern California candidates preferred.
24/7/365 on-call availability, willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules.
25-50% travel expected.
Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
Ability to pass background check.
Obtain background clearance for government customers.

Additional Qualifications:

Strong understanding of basic electronics and electrical theory.
Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle assembly and electrical/mechanical systems.
Proficient with electronic test equipment (DVMs, watt meters, communications system analyzers).
Skilled with hand and power tools for mobile and FNE equipment installation.
Computer literate with Microsoft Office and internet browser skills.
Self-motivated, quick learner of new technologies.
Ability to work effectively in diverse team environments.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Proficient with product-specific tools and software for configuration and testing.
Basic understanding of communications system functionality and technology.

Location/Territory:

Southern California candidates strongly preferred due to scheduling and on-site requirements.

This position involves working in high-security areas under the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy", requiring a rigorous fingerprint background check.

Target Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 USD

Pay varies based on individual experience and skills. Actual offer depends on candidate qualifications.

Basic Requirements:

5+ years experience in: LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Motorola equipment, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking, IP Networking, Solutions Architecture, ASTRO 25, P25, WAVE VoIP, or Military.
Ability to obtain government customer background clearance.
Legal U.S. work authorization (no sponsorship available).
