Geeks on Site is looking for an On-Call IT Field Technician & TV Configuration specialist to join our network of independent contractors serving the Indianapolis-Carmel-Anderson, IN area. This is a flexible, on-call role where you provide hands-on, on-site technical support directly at customer locations, troubleshooting a wide range of computer and networking issues for residential and small business clients. You'll work independently, accepting jobs based on your own availability.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair hardware/software issues on Windows and macOS systems
- Resolve boot errors, OS issues, and login problems
- Set up or troubleshoot Wi-Fi and wired internet connections
- Replace or upgrade hardware (HDD, RAM, cooling fans, etc.)
- Configure or connect printers and scanners (Canon, HP, Brother, etc.)
- Address common printer error codes (e.g., ink absorber, paper feed, connectivity)
- Perform general maintenance on multifunction printers (MFPs)
- Reinstall operating systems using bootable USBs or recovery media
- Install remote tools or shortcuts as requested
- Communicate clearly with customers and provide basic post-service support
- Document service visits and escalate complex issues as needed
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing Windows and macOS hardware and software
- Hands-on experience replacing computer hardware components (HDD, RAM, fans)
- Strong knowledge of setting up and troubleshooting home/small office networks (Wi-Fi, wired)
- Practical experience configuring, connecting, and troubleshooting printers and scanners (Canon, HP, Brother)
- Ability to diagnose and resolve common printer error codes and perform MFP maintenance
- Proficiency in reinstalling operating systems via bootable USB or recovery media
- Excellent customer communication skills and ability to provide clear post-service support
- Ability to work independently at customer locations and manage your own schedule
- Reliable transportation to travel to customer sites within the Indianapolis-Carmel-Anderson area
