Geeks on Site was looking for an On-Call IT Field Technician - Indianapolis - Anderson - Hiring Now

Geeks on Site is seeking an On-Call IT Field Technician to provide on-site technical support for residential and small business customers in Indianapolis and Anderson. As an independent contractor, you will independently accept and complete service calls for a wide range of tech needs, including computers, networks, printers, and scanners. This is a flexible role with no guaranteed hours.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and repair hardware/software issues on Windows and macOS systems
  • Resolve boot errors, OS issues, and login problems
  • Set up or troubleshoot Wi-Fi and wired internet connections
  • Replace or upgrade hardware (HDD, RAM, cooling fans, etc.)
  • Configure or connect printers and scanners (Canon, HP, Brother, etc.)
  • Address common printer error codes (e.g., ink absorber, paper feed, connectivity)
  • Perform general maintenance on multifunction printers (MFPs)
  • Reinstall operating systems using bootable USBs or recovery media
  • Install remote tools or shortcuts as requested
  • Communicate clearly with customers and provide basic post-service support
  • Document service visits and escalate complex issues as needed

What We're Looking For

  • Experience diagnosing and repairing hardware/software on Windows and macOS
  • Ability to resolve boot errors, OS issues, and login problems
  • Proficiency in setting up and troubleshooting Wi-Fi and wired internet connections
  • Experience replacing or upgrading computer hardware (HDD, RAM, cooling fans, etc.)
  • Experience configuring and connecting printers/scanners (Canon, HP, Brother, etc.)
  • Knowledge of common printer error codes and troubleshooting
  • Ability to perform general maintenance on multifunction printers (MFPs)
  • Ability to reinstall operating systems using bootable USBs or recovery media
  • Ability to install remote tools or shortcuts as requested
  • Strong customer communication skills and ability to provide basic post-service support
  • Ability to document service visits and escalate complex issues
  • Must be an independent contractor able to accept on-call work in the Indianapolis/Anderson area
