Coherent Corp. is looking for a Network Engineer to configure, manage, and maintain our secure, high-availability global network infrastructure. You will implement solutions, provide end-user support, and manage changes within scheduled maintenance windows in a dynamic environment.
What You'll Do
- Configure, manage, monitor, and maintain robust network infrastructures to deliver secure, high-availability (>99.9%) network services throughout a global environment.
- Implement and support networking solutions according to company standards and industry best practices.
- Assist and consult with systems and network professionals, including those at other sites, on networking initiatives and technologies.
- Engage with vendors to support a stable network environment and liaise with cabling vendors.
- Manage and implement planned changes in pre-scheduled maintenance windows off hours.
- Deliver timely end-user support to a regional user base in accordance with department standards.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical field.
- 4-6 years of experience in Enterprise Network planning, design, and management for a global company.
- L1 & L2 Network Operational Support experience.
- Excellent knowledge of Switching, Routing & Firewall concepts.
- Strong hands-on experience in handling and troubleshooting network and security related issues.
- Experience managing firewalls, including configuring, maintaining, securing, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to scale upwards and adopt newer technologies such as converged infrastructure and software-defined networks.
- Excellent customer service skills, including telephone techniques, listening skills, and a sense of urgency.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with end-users, IT professionals, and management.
- Demonstrated skills in network project planning and management, documentation, problem-solving, and work prioritization.
- Strong vendor management experience and skills to manage MPLS, telecom, and data service providers.
- Must be both team-oriented and self-motivated.
- Willingness to travel, domestically and internationally, and to work in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
Nice to Have
- Cisco CCNA/CCNP certifications.
- Knowledge of Load balancers, SDWAN, and automation.
- Familiarity with VOIP technology.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
