Cushman & Wakefield is hiring a Mobile Operating Engineer to ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems across assigned properties. You'll play a key role in maintaining a safe and comfortable environment through hands-on technical work and rapid response.
What You'll Do
- Perform all plumbing, electrical, and HVAC requirements for the building(s).
- Maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, including chillers, DX units, pumps, cooling towers, fan coil units, and VAV systems.
- Monitor, adjust, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and control systems including steam stations, valves, and thermostats.
- Monitor Energy Management systems and verify field conditions.
- Perform general building repairs and installations on doors, ceilings, floors, and hand railings.
- Repair plumbing fixtures such as water closets, urinals, and lavatories.
- Execute preventive maintenance per company standards, including changing filters, cleaning coils, flushing condensers, greasing bearings, and inspecting belts.
- Inspect critical equipment in engine rooms, fan rooms, cooling towers, electrical rooms, and for fire and life safety.
- Respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure) and customer concerns.
- Document activities and report to your supervisor.
- Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and company safety directives.
- Complete all required company safety training and adhere to the uniform dress code.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems in a commercial property setting.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Proven experience in the operation, maintenance, and basic repair of HVAC, boilers, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, and water systems.
- Working knowledge of energy management systems and techniques.
- Thorough understanding of all building systems operations, maintenance, and repair.
- Physical ability to stoop, stand, climb, and frequently lift at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to travel between properties in varying weather conditions.
Nice to Have
- Graduate of a recognized apprentice program or trade school.
- Appropriate trade license or permit (e.g., Journeyman/Master Electrician License, Refrigeration Certificate of Fitness, High Pressure Boiler License).
- Certification as a Universal Technician for CFC’s where required by market licensure.
Team & Environment
You may be the only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts. The role may require working extended periods, overtime, shift work, or on-call duties. You'll report to a Supervisor.
