Role Overview
Join a global team as a Mobile Interpreter, providing real-time language interpretation between English and Mandarin/Cantonese. This remote, work-from-home position ensures clear communication across vital sectors including emergency response, healthcare, government, finance, insurance, and business services. You will support live interactions between English speakers and native Mandarin/Cantonese speakers, ensuring mutual understanding in high-stakes situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret spoken conversations accurately and impartially between English and Mandarin/Cantonese in real time
- Support emergency operators, public services, and customer service agents during live calls
- Ensure clarity and precision when relaying information in both directions
- Maintain professionalism while handling sensitive topics across healthcare, law enforcement, utilities, travel, and finance
- Work from a quiet, private, and secure home environment with reliable mobile connectivity
- Adhere to scheduled shifts within a 24/7 operational framework, including nights and public holidays
Qualifications
- Fluency in both English and Mandarin/Cantonese (speaking, reading, writing)
- Access to a mobile device running Android 12 or higher, or iOS 15 or higher
- Ability to work 8-hour shifts with a 1-hour break, totaling 40 hours weekly
- Willingness to work rotating night shifts starting between 8 PM and 12 AM, with rotation every three months
- Availability to work on public holidays as required by the client schedule
- Must be based in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, or Cambodia
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly rate of RM30, with guaranteed minimum of RM4,800 per month (based on 160 hours)
- Overtime pay for eligible hours
- 12 days of annual leave and 14 days of paid sick leave
- Coverage under EPF and Socso (for eligible locations)
- Observance of select Malaysia and US public holidays
- Three weeks of daytime training (Monday to Friday) with training allowance provided
- Two rotating days off per week
Work Environment
This is a fully remote role requiring a dedicated home office setup. You must have a compatible mobile device and be available according to client-driven schedules. The position supports global operations, so flexibility with night shifts and rotating availability is essential.
