CloudLinux is looking for a Middle AI Engineer to join our remote R&D team focused on AI-powered patch backporting. This versatile role blends creative problem-solving with software engineering to explore new territory, prototype ideas, and integrate successful concepts into production-ready systems.

What You'll Do

Turn problem statements and hypotheses into concrete experiment plans, selecting methods, tooling, and metrics.
Run lightweight experiments to assess the feasibility and value of new approaches.
Implement research findings and integrate them into the production system.
Build and own evaluation metrics, automating them in CI and keeping results comparable.
Ship production-quality Python tools, CLIs, and small services that make experiments faster and cheaper.
Document work for future adoption and reuse.
Keep crisp written logs of experiments, results, and decisions.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience as a developer or engineering lead.
Proficiency in Python.
Hands-on experience integrating LLMs via APIs like OpenAI or Anthropic.
Familiarity with RAG, CAG, and agent-based approaches.
Basic infrastructure skills: CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and testing automation.

Nice to Have

Published research or experimentation experience.
Data analysis skills and experience building metrics for evaluation.
Basic knowledge of the C language.
Familiarity with AI engineering tools like Cursor, WindSurf, or aider.
