Stanford Health Care is hiring a Medical Assistant / Patient Care Coordinator I, Oncology

Stanford Health Care is seeking an entry-level Medical Assistant / Patient Care Coordinator I to join our Oncology team. In this role, you will provide essential patient support, perform clinical tasks, and coordinate care to ensure a seamless patient experience.

What You'll Do

  • Perform patient care duties, including measuring vital signs, drawing labs, assisting with medication reconciliation, and conducting special tasks like EKGs.
  • Handle patient check-in/out, virtual rooming, vaccine administration, and point-of-care specimen collection.
  • Manage clinic preparation, including stocking supplies and ordering medications, while ensuring timely completion of work assignments.
  • Respond to patient phone calls and prescription refill requests.
  • Serve as a liaison between providers, patients, and staff, managing the CRM/In-Basket system.

What We're Looking For

  • A High School Diploma or GED and one of the following: a certificate from a medical assisting program, training by a licensed physician/podiatrist, or certification from a Medical Board of California–approved organization.
  • Entry-level candidates are welcome; no prior experience is required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, coding/billing regulations, and relevant computer systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills for high-volume, stressful situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, following standard operating procedures.
  • Understanding of care coordination, clinical skills, and population health concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and updating clinical knowledge.
  • A current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Work Mode

This is an onsite position.
