Prime Robotics is hiring a Mechanical Project Engineer - Warehouse Automation

About the Role

Prime Robotics seeks a Mechanical Project Engineer to transform high-level customer proposals into build-ready robotic warehouse automation solutions and drive their implementation. You will own the end-to-end technical execution of customer projects from post-sales through deployment, ensuring seamless delivery while maintaining high standards of technical excellence and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Do

  • Finalize and translate high-level sales proposals into detailed, build-ready designs across mechanical, software, and systems engineering disciplines.
  • Own and drive the development of final layout drawings, system architecture, pallet/rack configurations, and hardware BOMs for robotic case-pick systems.
  • Coordinate and review racking designs, robot staging plans, and integration zones to ensure seamless compatibility with warehouse environments.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between Sales Engineering, Manufacturing, Software, and Field Deployment teams.
  • Lead the handoff process from sales to execution, ensuring all technical requirements are clearly understood and achievable.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and procurement teams to push production schedules and resolve design-related blockers proactively.
  • Conduct design validation checks, field constructability reviews, and mechanical/electrical interface evaluations.
  • Identify engineering risks early and work cross-functionally to mitigate scope creep or timeline impact.
  • Lead technical discussions with customer engineering teams, operations managers, and IT personnel.
  • Create and maintain project technical documentation throughout the implementation lifecycle.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field OR equivalent combination of technical education and hands-on warehouse automation experience.
  • 3-5 years of warehouse automation implementation experience with direct project involvement.
  • 2+ years of robotics implementation experience including system design, deployment, or commissioning.
  • Experience with software solutions integration including WMS, control systems, or automation software.
  • Proven track record of successful customer-facing technical projects from design through implementation.
  • CAD software proficiency (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) for creating and modifying technical drawings.
  • Project management tools experience with scheduling, tracking, and documentation systems.
  • Ability to work in warehouse and industrial environments including temperature variations, noise, and dust.
  • Walking, standing, and climbing for extended periods during site surveys and implementations.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs when handling equipment, components, and testing materials.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local and regional travel.

Nice to Have

  • Warehouse Management System (WMS) integration experience with major platforms (Manhattan, SAP, Oracle).
  • Material handling systems experience including conveyors, sorters, and automated storage systems.
  • Industrial networking knowledge including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, or other industrial communication protocols.
  • Safety systems experience with industrial automation safety standards and risk assessment.
  • PLC programming experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar industrial control platforms.
  • SCADA/HMI development experience for operator interfaces and system monitoring.
  • 3D modeling capabilities for system visualization and layout planning.

Technical Stack

  • AutoCAD, SolidWorks
  • WMS (Warehouse Management System)
  • Ethernet/IP, Profinet
  • PLC (Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
  • SCADA/HMI
