About the Role

Red Rocks Community College is hiring a full-time Mathematics Faculty member for a 9-month, 166-day contract. In this role, you will be responsible for teaching a total of 30 credit hours annually, developing curriculum, advising students, and actively participating in the college community.

What You'll Do

  • Teach 30 credit hours annually, generally split as 15 credits each fall and spring semester.
  • Teach courses using traditional and non-traditional delivery methods, including hybrid and online formats; some weekend or evening teaching may be required.
  • Develop and evaluate curriculum to ensure it aligns with community needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Advise students and participate in retention activities.
  • Assess student and program learning objectives.
  • Serve on college committees and attend departmental and college meetings.
  • Select course texts.
  • Teach at any RRCC campus at various times, including days, evenings, and some weekends.
  • Implement retention strategies and integrate technology into coursework.
  • Maintain office hours, assist with departmental duties, and provide academic advising.
  • Participate in college events and represent the college in the community.
  • Engage in professional development to support teaching and service functions.

What We're Looking For

  • A Master’s degree in Mathematics or a related field from an accredited institution with 18 graduate credit hours in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics courses.
  • Successful completion of all undergraduate courses in the calculus sequence through multivariable calculus.
  • No more than 6 of the required graduate credits may be in Statistics.
  • Tested experience may be used in lieu of the degree requirement on a case-by-case basis.
  • Experience teaching and/or training various subjects within the mathematics discipline.
  • A record of actively seeking opportunities for professional growth.
  • Experience teaching at least two of the following at the college level: Introduction to Statistics, Calculus III (multivariable calculus), Linear Algebra, or Differential Equations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within diverse teams and contribute to a positive, professional work environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and fostering inclusive learning environments.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, organization, and time management skills.
  • Technology proficiency.

Nice to Have

  • Experience teaching Introduction to Statistics, the Calculus series, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations.
  • Experience developing and teaching online courses.
  • Experience or interest in incorporating programming (such as Python) as a tool in math and data science courses.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment of student learning.
  • 30 or more semester credit hours of teaching experience at the college level.
  • Experience teaching at a community college.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and skills.
  • A continued active pursuit of professional growth through development opportunities.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary range: $65,000 to $78,000, commensurate with education and experience. This salary is based on a 166-day contract.

Work Mode

This is an onsite position. Teaching duties may be required at any Red Rocks Community College campus location.
