Vanderbilt University Medical Center is looking for a Leave Case Manager to serve as the primary expert guiding employees through our leave administration process. What You'll Do
- Provide expertise and guidance on leave processes for employees and departments.
- Manage VUMC’s leave of absence administration process, determining eligibility, reviewing medical documentation, and designating leave as qualifying.
- Provide accurate, timely, and effective communication with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules.
- Ensure employees and leaders are aware of their responsibilities and documentation required to qualify for and take leave.
- Advise leaders and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off including worker’s compensation, short-term and long-term disability.
- Communicate and coordinate with leaders to assist in facilitating effective department leave management plans.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with legal requirements and best practices.
- Maintain knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including FMLA, ADA, and applicable state and local laws.
- Facilitate other leave requests, which may include accommodation requests under the ADA.
- Participate in the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, or other leave.
- Process exemption requests and communications for VUMC when necessary.
- Compile, analyze, and apply data to make recommendations to leaders pertaining to leave management plans.
- Preserve confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
What We're Looking For
- 2 years of relevant work experience.
- A Bachelor's degree.
Nice to Have
- 2+ years of FMLA processing experience.
- 2+ years of Workday experience, including Help and LOA modules.
- Ability to work core business hours in the Central Time Zone.
- 2+ years of case management experience.
- Strong time management demonstrating efficiency in a high-volume environment.
- Skilled in managing high volumes of calls, faxes, emails, and case-related correspondence.
- Comprehensive FMLA knowledge from initiation through closure.
- Ability to assess and prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities.
