About the Role

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is looking for a Leave Case Manager to serve as the primary expert guiding employees through our leave administration process. You will join a team dedicated to advancing health and wellness through exceptional patient care, education, and research, in an environment committed to helping everyone thrive.

What You'll Do

  • Provide expertise and guidance on leave processes for employees and departments.
  • Manage VUMC’s leave of absence administration process, determining eligibility, reviewing medical documentation, and designating leave as qualifying.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and effective communication with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules.
  • Ensure employees and leaders are aware of their responsibilities and documentation required to qualify for and take leave.
  • Advise leaders and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off including worker’s compensation, short-term and long-term disability.
  • Communicate and coordinate with leaders to assist in facilitating effective department leave management plans.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with legal requirements and best practices.
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including FMLA, ADA, and applicable state and local laws.
  • Facilitate other leave requests, which may include accommodation requests under the ADA.
  • Participate in the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, or other leave.
  • Process exemption requests and communications for VUMC when necessary.
  • Compile, analyze, and apply data to make recommendations to leaders pertaining to leave management plans.
  • Preserve confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.

What We're Looking For

  • 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree.

Nice to Have

  • 2+ years of FMLA processing experience.
  • 2+ years of Workday experience, including Help and LOA modules.
  • Ability to work core business hours in the Central Time Zone.
  • 2+ years of case management experience.
  • Strong time management demonstrating efficiency in a high-volume environment.
  • Skilled in managing high volumes of calls, faxes, emails, and case-related correspondence.
  • Comprehensive FMLA knowledge from initiation through closure.
  • Ability to assess and prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities.
