Capital One is hiring a Lead Software Engineer to work on our Retail Bank Technology team. You will be responsible for designing, coding, and testing software projects, with a focus on system architecture and integration for our Profile-based systems.

What You'll Do

Work with the Development Team Leader and business owners to refine and clarify project requirements.
Help manage tasks and stories in collaboration with the Development Team Leader.
Provide team leadership and proactively seek out areas for improvement.
Produce detailed design specifications from project requirements.
Code projects using existing design standards and within an accepted defect rate.
Gather and provide input to assist in overall team process improvement and product design stability.
Properly track issues and resolutions using JIRA.
Ensure all code retains logical stability, reliability, confidentiality, and integrity of Capital One systems.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor’s Degree
At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience (internship experience does not apply)
At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Nice to Have

6+ years of professional experience developing on the Profile application (MUMPS and PSL)
6+ years of professional experience developing banking software, including financial products and reporting features
3+ years of professional experience managing projects, system design, and implementation
1+ year of experience with Database Management Systems, SQL, and shell scripting

Salary Range: $175,800 - $200,700 for remote roles; $193,400 - $220,700 for McLean, VA
