Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of engineers with full responsibility for performance, professional growth, and well-being.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and career development discussions with actionable feedback.
- Foster a team environment that values organization, reliability, and measurable impact.
- Guide engineers through code reviews, collaborative coding, and delivery support to improve technical execution.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on escalated personnel matters and help define team collaboration standards.
- Serve as a hands-on technical leader, contributing significantly to high-priority engineering initiatives.
- Make and guide key technical decisions within the team’s domain.
- Convert architectural strategies into actionable sprint tasks for engineering teams.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery systems to ensure safe, consistent, and fast deployments.
- Enhance system observability through metrics, logging, distributed tracing, and alerting, including SLO-driven dashboards.
- Create automated and self-service tools using infrastructure-as-code, APIs, and platform solutions to streamline developer workflows.
- Enforce secure software delivery using policy-enforced pipeline controls.
- Implement and manage infrastructure using Terraform, adhering to established architectural standards.
- Improve secrets management across deployment and CI/CD processes.
- Promote AI-assisted development, including prompt engineering, AI code review tools, and integrated workflows.
- Lead incident response efforts, including coordination, communication, and issue routing.
- Participate in on-call duties and implement changes to reduce incident frequency and alert fatigue.
- Develop and maintain runbooks, escalation procedures, and system documentation.
- Ensure systems meet ongoing production readiness standards beyond initial checklists.
- Oversee team management as a formal people leader accountable for team outcomes and development.
- Manage performance through consistent 1:1s, reviews, and direct feedback.
- Support career progression through growth planning and skill development opportunities.
- Coach engineers via code reviews, pair programming, and delivery mentorship.
- Cultivate a culture centered on organization, dependability, and impact.
- Establish team norms, resolve obstacles, and escalate people issues with leadership when needed.
Compensation
Salary Range: $174,000-$236,000 per year (depending on experience and location). Eligible for company bonus plan. Final offer based on experience, skills, and location.

- Location: Richmond, VA; Arlington, VA; or Remote (U.S.). Associates near office locations may choose in-office, hybrid, or remote work. Remote roles open to U.S.-based candidates.
- Salary Range: $174,000-$236,000 per year (depending on experience and location)
- Additional Compensation: This position will be eligible to participate in company bonus plan.
