Responsibilities
- Observes patients at risk of self-harm or harm to others using continuous video surveillance, delivering safety-focused support.
- Offers verbal reassurance and emotional support using techniques such as distraction, encouragement, and de-escalation within role boundaries.
- Conducts real-time monitoring of multiple patients at Delnor Hospital via video systems to prevent unsafe behaviors.
- Uses communication tools to redirect patients verbally and alert clinical staff when risks arise.
- Responds to critical situations by activating STAT alerts or notifying appropriate personnel promptly.
- Initiates patient monitoring by receiving orders, setting up Artisight cameras, entering patient data, and confirming handoffs from unit staff.
- Verifies camera functionality and assigns patients to monitoring technicians.
- Completes discharge procedures by ensuring discontinuation of monitoring orders in Epic.
- Performs regular audits by matching patient orders with assigned camera numbers.

- Works five 8-hour shifts per week
- Shift hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Required to work every other weekend, including Saturday and Sunday
- Must rotate through holidays annually
- Role includes monitoring patients at risk for self-harm or harm to others via video
- Applies basic comfort interventions such as encouragement, distraction, and coping strategies
- Provides verbal redirection to prevent risky patient behaviors
- Activates alerts or contacts staff when immediate intervention is needed
- Handles intake tasks: receiving orders, setting up cameras, entering data, receiving handoffs, verifying equipment, assigning patients
- Manages discharge by confirming order discontinuation in Epic
- Cross-references monitoring orders with camera identifiers
- Supports high-acuity cases requiring urgent attention
- Collaborates with IT, Artisight, and Epic teams to resolve technical issues
- Collects operational data related to hospital and camera usage
- Assigns daily staffing for upcoming shifts
- Manages patient admissions and discharges within the monitoring system
- Serves as liaison between unit and staffing office
- Coordinates break coverage for team members
- Oversees scheduling for the assigned shift
- Leads daily shift huddles to align team activities
- Acts as primary contact for new hire onboarding
- Schedules orientation sessions for new staff
- Facilitates regular check-ins with team members
- Ensures required competencies are completed on schedule
