The Lead Cloud Architect will design, build, and guide the implementation of innovative cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a focus on event-driven architectures and microservices. This role involves close collaboration with a UK-based project team and requires deep technical expertise in GCP and modern software architecture. What You'll Do
- Design, build, and guide the implementation of innovative cloud-native solutions

What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience as a hands-on software developer and architect, delivering complex enterprise solutions
- Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and architectural best practices
- Proven ability to design, implement, and lead event-driven architectures and distributed systems
- Strong understanding of API design principles and practical experience with Apigee X
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), specifically Terraform
- Experience with observability platforms, particularly New Relic, for monitoring, logging, and tracing in cloud environments
- Solid grasp of traditional and modern architectural design patterns
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Node.js/TypeScript, Python, Go)
- Experience applying DevOps principles and practices
- Commitment to Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles
- Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, diagrammatic) to convey technical and abstract concepts
Nice to Have
- GCP Professional Cloud Architect or DevOps Engineer certification
- Experience with message brokers and streaming platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Pub/Sub, Kafka)
- Familiarity with serverless technologies (e.g., Cloud Functions, Cloud Run) for event processing
- Experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Contributions to Open Source projects
- Background in Data Engineering
- Experience with Diagrams-as-Code tools
