Cresta is seeking a Junior Software Engineer Intern for a 3-month summer internship to contribute to backend services powering real-time AI features and search. The intern will work across the stack with mentorship from experienced engineers and collaborate with product managers, ML engineers, and software engineers.
What You'll Do
- Build and improve backend services that power real-time AI features and search
- Help design and implement APIs for internal and external integrations
- Contribute across the stack when needed (backend, frontend, infrastructure)
- Work closely with product managers, ML engineers, and other software engineers
- Take tasks from implementation through deployment, with mentorship and code reviews
- Participate in technical discussions and learn best practices through hands-on work
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or currently pursuing one)
- Strong problem-solving skills and a solid foundation in computer science
- Familiarity with at least one backend language (Python, Go, Node.js, or similar)
- Basic experience working with APIs (REST, gRPC, or equivalent)
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and collaborate with others
- Clear communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
Nice to Have
- International programming or math olympiad prizes are a strong plus
- 0–2 years of experience in software engineering (internships count)
- Exposure to databases like PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, or similar
- Basic understanding of system design, distributed systems, or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Some familiarity with frontend development (React or similar frameworks)
