Wemolo GmbH is seeking an IoT Engineering Manager (all genders) to lead and grow our Hardware and IoT engineering team. You will be responsible for driving excellence in both technology development and people management, overseeing the design, development, and deployment of IoT systems for a product that revolutionizes parking management.
What You'll Do
- Incubate, grow, lead, manage, and mentor engineers (individual contributors).
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development discussions with engineers.
- Identify skill gaps and develop training programs to enhance team capabilities.
- Collaborate with product management and other engineering teams to define and execute the product roadmap.
- Set clear objectives, prioritize tasks, and manage resources to ensure timely delivery.
- Drive the adoption of best engineering practices, including agile methodologies, continuous integration, and automated testing.
- Provide technical guidance and direction to lead and senior engineers.
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of IoT systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
- Dive into solving technical problems hands-on when needed.
- Continuously evaluate and improve software performance.
- Monitor and maintain firmware applications to ensure high availability and scalability.
- Proactively identify and propose solutions to problems.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and hardware engineering.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration across teams, removing obstacles and facilitating problem-solving.
- Participate in the recruitment process to attract top engineering talent.
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years in software engineering, including coding and system design.
- 3+ years in technical leadership, with at least 1 year of people management.
- Strong programming skills in Python or another OOP language.
- Solid experience with Linux, Bash scripting, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with Docker, cloud-native deployments, and Git workflows.
- Hands-on experience with embedded hardware integration and industrial protocols (e.g., MQTT).
- Strong understanding of client-server architectures, backend security, and networked systems.
- Experience with AIoT technologies (Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision) and large-scale IoT device management.
- Excellent written and spoken English (C1 or above).
