Whatnot is hiring an iOS Engineer

About the Role

We’re seeking skilled iOS Engineers to join teams focused on Buyer Growth, Content & Navigation, Security, App Platform, and Customer Experience & Operations. In this role, you’ll develop robust mobile experiences using Swift and SwiftUI that directly influence how users interact with our platform, prioritizing growth, reliability, and long-term scalability.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and implement core iOS features that enhance the experience for both buyers and sellers
  • Write clean, maintainable Swift code with a focus on SwiftUI-driven interface architecture
  • Work closely with product, design, and backend engineers to define project scope, goals, and technical approaches
  • Help shape shared mobile tools and standards used across engineering teams
  • Support engineering quality through code reviews, documentation, and constructive feedback

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent real-world experience
  • Strong command of iOS development principles and experience with SwiftUI
  • History of delivering polished, user-facing mobile features
  • Ability to move quickly while maintaining high standards
  • Product-minded approach—always starting with user needs before technical considerations

Nice-to-Have

  • Background in e-commerce or social platforms
  • Experience with A/B testing, analytics integration, or experimentation systems

Work Environment

This is a hybrid role with office hubs in New York, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. We value in-person collaboration for planning and problem-solving, but offer flexibility to work remotely when needed. All engineers are expected to actively use the app as both buyers and sellers to stay connected to the user experience.

Benefits

  • Flexible time off and company-wide breaks in spring and winter
  • Comprehensive health coverage: medical, dental, and vision
  • Support for remote work, including home office setup and monthly internet and phone allowances
  • Wellness, childcare, and family planning benefits
  • 401k with employer match up to 4% of base salary (US); pension plans internationally
  • Monthly stipend to use the platform
  • 16 weeks of paid parental leave with a one-month phased return

Our Culture

We value curiosity, action, and outcome-focused collaboration. Team members thrive by staying close to the product and its users, prioritizing impact over recognition. We respect diverse perspectives and are committed to building an inclusive environment where different skills and backgrounds are celebrated.

Equal Opportunity

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, parental status, disability, or other protected statuses under local law.
