Datadog is hiring a Senior Interaction Designer for the Design Lab. In this role, you will innovate and implement motion and AI-first interactions across Datadog's products while contributing to the visual design evolution of our design system. You'll advance craft, build shared design capabilities, and partner with design systems and product teams to shape the future of design at scale.
What You'll Do
- Evolve Datadog’s visual design direction at the system level, defining new motion experience patterns and interaction models.
- Design and code the motion system for the design system, including motion tokens, component behaviors, transitions, and icon illustrations.
- Prototype and iterate on new visual ideas with AI-assisted workflows.
- Partner with Brand and Product Design to align product visuals with Datadog’s broader design language.
- Work closely with the Design Systems engineering team to ensure high-quality implementation and code quality.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in product design.
- At least 1+ years of experience focused on or working closely with design systems.
- Portfolio includes a proven track record of excellent design craft (product and platform) and interaction design.
- Fluent in how design intersects with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, React, SVG, AI-first tooling).
- Excellent visual and written communicator, able to clearly communicate design work and the support for design decisions.
- Experience with advanced prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Cursor, Claude).
- Gives and receives feedback well, supporting and improving the work of colleagues.
