Mass General Brigham is hiring a Histology Technologist II to join our Histopathology team. In this role, you will perform routine testing in a high-complexity clinical diagnostic laboratory, preparing patient samples for microscopic examination and analysis by Pathology. You'll troubleshoot on-hold cases, collaborate with the Laboratory Operations team to move samples effectively through the workflow, and work independently on more complex samples.
What You'll Do
- Train new technologists on proper procedures and techniques.
- Evaluate new technology for clinical application and assist in updating procedure manuals for laboratory inspections and accreditations.
- Receive blocks, help account for all blocks received, and assist with any problems associated with slides and blocks.
- Ensure work is done in assigned areas such as histology, special stains, neuropathology, frozen sections, and immunohistochemistry.
- Determine when prescribed techniques and apparatus should be modified to meet required quality standards.
- Maintain quality control logs and monitor daily completion of logs.
- Be responsible for quality control of all reagents.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of 5-7 years of histology experience
Nice to Have
- HT or HTL (ASCP) certification, or eligibility
- Graduate of an NCCLS-approved school of Histotechnology
