Responsibilities
- Financial Strategy & Leadership: Build, lead, and scale a high-performing finance and accounting function responsible for driving capital efficiency and long-term financial health. You will own the company's financial operating system.
- FP&A and Modeling: Oversee and optimize the financial planning process, ensuring clear success criteria and well-defined forecasts. You will be an expert in planning, reporting, and modeling financials to support strategic decision-making.
- Accounting & Compliance: Own the post-transaction financial reality, guiding the company through audits, tax compliance, and month-end closes. You will ensure accuracy in financial reporting while identifying opportunities for efficiency within the P&L.
- Fundraising & Investor Relations: Serve as a key partner to the CEO during fundraising activities. You will lead the preparation of diligence materials and financial narratives required to successfully navigate early funding rounds.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the financial voice of the business, providing critical feedback to Product and Sales teams to influence the roadmap based on unit economics and efficiency metrics that have a clear impact on new business and retention.
- SQL & Data Fluency: You can write your own SQL queries against the data warehouse to pull the data you need for reporting and modeling, without waiting on an analyst.
- Executive Partnership: Serve as the primary financial escalation point and engage directly with the Board of Directors and executive leadership to align financial constraints with ambitious growth goals.
Requirements
- Deep Financial Expertise: You possess strong technical depth in corporate finance, accounting (GAAP), and SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC), with the ability to understand and discuss complex financial scenarios.
- Fundraising Experience: Proven experience going through fundraising rounds, specifically early stages, with a track record of successful diligence management and investor relationship building.
- Leadership Experience: You have led finance teams in a high-growth startup or SaaS environment, fostering a culture of transparency and fiscal responsibility.
- Strategic & Tactical Ability: You are capable of defining high-level financial strategy for the company while remaining hands-on enough to dive into complex spreadsheets, financial models, and billing configurations when needed.
- Communication Skills: You can effectively articulate complex financial concepts to a variety of audiences, from engineers to VCs and C-level executives.
Nice to Have
- CPA or CFA designation.
- Experience at a company with an international subsidiary.
- Experience implementing and managing Financial systems.
- Previous experience working with widespread distributed teams in a remote-first environment.
