About the Role

Dexterra Group is hiring a Head Housekeeper to lead housekeeping operations at a remote exploration camp in Nunavut. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for camp residents, managing a team, and upholding high standards.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings to discuss tasks and safety.
  • Implement and enforce housekeeping and janitorial maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily and weekly housekeeping and janitorial audits.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising a housekeeping team of up to 10 employees.
  • Recommend promotions, transfers, and dismissals to management.
  • Train staff on safe work practices, equipment operations, and emergency procedures.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and place orders as required.
  • Assist with monthly inventory counts in the housekeeping department.
  • Attend all required health and safety training sessions.
  • Report and address safety concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, OHSA, and company policies.
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Lodge Manager and the Front Desk regarding room discrepancies.
  • Foster a positive and cooperative work environment.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of 2 years experience supervising.
  • 5+ years housekeeping experience working in a remote camp setting.
  • Valid Full Drivers License (Class 5 or G).
  • Familiarity with progressive discipline and other HR related matters.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions typical of Nunavut (extreme cold, 24 hour darkness).
  • Must have valid government issued photo ID for travel to site.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands.
  • Ability to perform work with arms at full length.
  • Ability to work with arms above shoulder height.

Team & Environment

You will lead a team of up to 10 employees and report directly to the Lodge Manager.
