About the Role

Journey Beyond is looking for Grounds & Handypersons to join our teams at remote Camps & Lodges across Western Australia, Queensland, and the Northern Territory. In these hands-on roles, you will maintain the grounds and facilities to ensure a high-quality guest experience in spectacular outback locations, with all meals and accommodation provided.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain gardens, lawns, pathways, and landscaped areas
  • Carry out mowing, slashing, trimming, and general grounds care
  • Manage weed control and support small nurseries or herb gardens
  • Complete daily outdoor inspections and keep public areas clear and clean
  • Assist with pool cleaning where applicable
  • Help with minor lodge upkeep and basic repairs
  • Maintain tools and equipment to a high standard
  • Follow safety procedures and keep accurate task records
  • Maintain and repair buildings, fixtures, equipment, and guest facilities
  • Complete preventative maintenance and respond quickly to repair needs
  • Assist with fleet servicing and basic mechanical repairs (location dependent)
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and diagnose maintenance problems
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards
  • Maintain accurate schedules, logs, and record keeping

What We're Looking For

  • A Forklift licence (essential)
  • A National Criminal History Check

Nice to Have

  • Experience in gardening, landscaping, or grounds maintenance
  • Confidence operating equipment such as mowers and whipper snippers
  • Chainsaw licence
  • A love for nature and working outdoors
  • A proactive, positive, can-do attitude
  • Trade, mechanical, maintenance, or general repair experience
  • Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • Ability to read manuals and technical drawings
  • Heavy Rigid and/or forklift licence (highly regarded)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an eye for detail

Work Mode

This is an onsite position based at remote locations across Western Australia, Queensland, and the Northern Territory.
