The developer will create a custom Mobile Device Management (MDM) system from the ground up for iOS and Android platforms, focusing on backend development with TypeScript and Convex. The role involves close collaboration with frontend and MDM teams to deliver a secure, enterprise-level solution with robust device management capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Help build a custom MDM solution supporting both iOS and Android devices
- Implement core MDM features including device enrollment, policy enforcement, remote configuration, app deployment, and remote wipe functionality
- Develop secure communication channels and management workflows between devices and backend systems
- Design and maintain backend services using TypeScript and Convex
- Create APIs and data models to power MDM features and integrations
- Work closely with the frontend team to ensure seamless integration of backend services
- Ensure backend systems are scalable, reliable, and maintainable for long-term production use
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in building or working with MDM solutions for iOS and Android platforms
- Solid knowledge of Apple DEP, Managed App Configurations, Android Enterprise, and related MDM protocols
- Proven track record of developing backend systems for production environments
- High level of proficiency in TypeScript, which is required for this role
- Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and third-party services
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying MDM solutions for both mobile operating systems
- In-depth understanding of MDM protocols including Apple’s Device Enrollment Program (DEP), Managed App Configurations, and Android Enterprise
- Familiarity with MDM platforms such as Jamf, Microsoft Intune, VMware Workspace ONE, or equivalent tools
- Proficiency in programming languages including Swift, Kotlin, Java, and Python
- Strong grasp of mobile security principles, encryption methods, and secure communication protocols
- Knowledge of compliance standards such as HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical team members
Nice to Have
- Experience working with Convex or similar backend-as-a-service platforms
- Familiarity with Swift, React Native, Go, and Python is considered an advantage
- Minimum of five years of professional software development experience
- At least three years of hands-on experience with MDM systems
- Experience building systems from the ground up in startup or fast-moving environments
- Possession of relevant certifications related to MDM platforms such as Jamf or Intune
