About the Role

Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a Full-Stack Engineer with a front-end leaning to join our mission-driven team. In this fully remote role, you will improve educational tools used across the country, refine user experience, and modernize legacy systems within a collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

  • Partner closely with Product and Design teams to understand user needs and co-develop effective solutions.
  • Build and enhance features that improve usability, accessibility, and trust in widely used products.
  • Lead front-end initiatives that boost engagement, reduce errors, and simplify user workflows.
  • Contribute to back-end development in Ruby on Rails to support front-end improvements.
  • Collaborate with Support, QA, and Operations to triage, prioritize, and fix issues based on real user feedback.
  • Improve legacy code performance and maintainability, and help transition toward more modern, scalable systems.
  • Ensure code is reliable, testable, well-documented, and aligned with long-term product goals.
  • Embrace tools and automation that streamline development and minimize repetitive tasks.

What We're Looking For

  • 3–5 years of experience in full-stack or front-end-leaning engineering roles.
  • Strong command of JavaScript or TypeScript and experience with React or similar frameworks.
  • Skilled in building responsive, accessible, and maintainable front-end user interfaces.
  • Proficiency in Ruby on Rails or equivalent MVC frameworks.
  • Ability to evaluate and improve legacy code with a pragmatic, outcome-oriented mindset.
  • Comfortable using modern tools, including AI, to enhance development workflows.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, especially across the full stack.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong communication and cross-functional teamwork skills.
  • Passion for using technology to drive positive, measurable real-world impact.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in sustainment/support engineering or quality-focused teams.
  • Familiarity with browser performance tools, accessibility standards, and usability best practices.
  • Exposure to UX metrics frameworks like HEART.
  • Experience building internal tools or workflow automation.

  • Competitive salary range: $110,000–$127,000, based on experience, skillset, and internal equity.
