At Canva, we're redefining how the world experiences design. As a Frontend Engineer, you will contribute to product surfaces like the Canva Editor, Canva Docs, Presentations, Websites, or AI-powered Magic Studio features. You'll be designing and developing user interfaces, collaborating across teams, and scaling our frontend architecture.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design and development of performant, delightful user interfaces using modern frontend frameworks.
- Drive collaboration with Product Managers, designers, and fellow engineers to scope, define, and deliver impactful product features.
- Evolve and scale Canva’s frontend architecture through reusable component libraries and shared design systems.
- Champion accessibility, performance, and engineering best practices across multiple product surfaces.
- Write robust, well-tested code and proactively identify areas for technical improvement or refactor.
- Guide design and code reviews, mentor peers, and raise the technical bar for your team.
What We're Looking For
- High level of experience building complex, user-facing applications using modern frontend technologies, specifically React and TypeScript.
- Strong JavaScript fundamentals and a deep understanding of the web platform.
- Comfort taking ownership of features end-to-end—from architecture to delivery—and thrive in environments where you drive the 'how'.
- Ability to balance attention to detail with pragmatism, consistently shipping quality code at speed.
- A thoughtful collaborator who works well across disciplines and proactively brings others on the journey.
- Understanding of the bigger picture—how your work connects to product goals, user experience, and long-term scalability.
- Enjoy mentoring others, offering constructive feedback, and lifting the technical bar for your team.
