AJ Bell is hiring a Flutter Engineer

Work within the Touch team to develop a next-generation investment platform with a mobile-first approach. This role includes full ownership of the software development lifecycle, collaborating with stakeholders, building and testing features, managing deployments, and supporting live services as part of a distributed engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all stages of software development, from gathering requirements to deploying and supporting the application in production.
  • Collaborate effectively within a distributed team of self-driven and cooperative professionals.
  • Continuously refine and enhance the product while adhering to agreed design and architectural standards.
  • Proactively identify and implement improvements to product features, development processes, and team practices to minimize inefficiencies.
  • Integrate automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment into regular development workflows.
  • Support team objectives by contributing beyond core expertise, including across different technology domains when necessary.

Requirements

  • Strong programming abilities and aptitude for solving complex technical problems.
  • Familiarity with key software design concepts and patterns, including object-oriented analysis and design, domain-driven design, MVC, microservices, containerization or orchestration, and event-driven architecture.
  • Proven experience developing high-performing, scalable, secure, and thoroughly tested code.
  • Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for tasks and resolve challenges, engaging others when required to overcome obstacles.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with investment or pensions platforms is beneficial.

Compensation

Competitive starting salary. Equity through Annual free share awards scheme and Buy As You Earn (BAYE) Scheme. Discretionary bonus scheme and matched pension contributions.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid working model with office locations in Bristol, Manchester, and London. Minimum requirement of 50% of monthly working time spent in the office, including at least one day per month in the Bristol office. New hires begin with a full-time in-office onboarding period to support integration and team relationships.
