Wabtec is looking for a Field Service Technician to be a hands-on expert on our customer sites. In this role, you will participate in the installation and maintenance of large NDT solutions while also contributing to feasibility studies for new applications. You’ll be a key technical point of contact, ensuring our systems perform reliably and customers are well-supported.
What You'll Do
- Fine-tune and optimize PLC programs and HMIs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, others).
- Actively participate in new system installations with the project team, supporting software adjustment and hardware testing.
- Supervise and implement automation projects.
- Propose and integrate developments and innovations in system automation.
- Supervise developments on automation platforms from a technological direction.
- Understand the application requirements of various technologies.
- Provide maintenance training to customers.
- Participate in designing electrical plans for the automation part.
- Support after-sales service activities.
- Be present on site during installations.
- Perform feasibility studies supported by NDT specialists.
- Represent a point of contact for customers for maintenance and problem resolution.
- Perform any other related tasks as requested.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in programming industrial/automation equipment or systems installation.
- Professional knowledge of English and Italian.
- Basic knowledge of robotic programming and C++/C#.
- Basic knowledge of performing maintenance on electromechanical systems.
- Customer-oriented with the capacity to deliver training.
- Capability to work independently in an organized and methodical way.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Availability to travel up to 50% globally, for up to 3 weeks at a time when necessary.
- Legal authorization to work in the EU.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of French.
- Knowledge of NDT, ultrasound, or eddy current technologies.

Team & Environment
You will work closely with the project team and NDT specialists, reporting to your immediate superior.
Work Mode
This role is based locally in Italy, ideally in the Lombardy region (Milan or Bergamo areas).
