As a Field Engineer specializing in Emergency Call Handling, you'll play a key technical role in implementing and supporting mission-critical communication systems. Your work will ensure seamless operation of on-premise and cloud-hosted solutions used by public safety agencies, directly contributing to community safety and emergency response effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and validate Emergency Call Handling systems across hybrid cloud and SaaS environments prior to production cutover.
- Conduct site testing and verify system readiness before live deployment.
- Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues between local infrastructure and cloud-based platforms.
- Support customers and channel partners during system deployment, ensuring smooth integration into operational environments.
- Document all configuration changes, including cloud tenant settings and API integrations, throughout project implementation.
- Address installation and quality concerns promptly and efficiently.
- Contribute to the development and approval of detailed Methods of Procedure for system upgrades and cloud migrations.
- Support pre-contract discussions and customer engagements as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date expertise in cloud-native technologies used in public safety communications.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required, with preference given to candidates holding an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree. You must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Software Engineering, or a related technology field, along with three or more years of hands-on experience deploying complex IP-based systems. Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or private cloud environments is essential.
Additional technical experience should include troubleshooting cloud applications, managing identity systems (SSO, Active Directory), and administering virtualized server environments (VMware ESXi 6+, Hyper-V 2012+), database servers (Microsoft SQL Server), Windows and Linux operating systems, and network infrastructure (Cisco IOS, Fortinet firewalls).
Background in public safety applications is a strong plus. Success in this role requires sound judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to independently determine appropriate technical solutions.
Work Environment
This is a remote position with over 75% travel required across the U.S. Candidates must reside within the Central or Eastern time zones. The role demands flexibility and readiness to support deployments on-site as needed.
