APAC Mississippi, Inc., a CRH company, is hiring an Estimator/Project Manager to prepare detailed quantity estimates and manage awarded construction projects. This skilled position involves using material, labor, and overhead costs to build accurate bids and then leading those projects to successful completion.
What You'll Do
- Bid and manage multiple jobs concurrently.
- Perform estimating for earthwork, demolition, and utility projects, including quantity take-off, pricing, crew production, and scheduling.
- Visit project sites weekly to monitor progress, update schedules, and review costs with the Project Superintendent.
- Manage profit and loss of projects through weekly cost reviews.
- Manage awarded projects, including ensuring safety practices are followed, creating and updating project schedules, creating monthly billings, reviewing job costs, performing cost projections, and working with field personnel.
- Manage and price change orders, and oversee subcontractors and vendors.
- Work with owners and customers to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of database software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Bid 2 Win, Trimble Business Center, Plan Swift, Microsoft Project and/or P6, Job Cost Projections, and ViewPoint.
Nice to Have
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Five or more years of construction estimating experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted.
