Penguin Solutions is looking for an Engineering Lab Technician I to provide critical hands-on support to our engineering and cross-functional teams. You will be responsible for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware and software test systems and laboratory equipment to ensure accurate results and reliable operations.
What You'll Do
- Manage and support multiple functional laboratories, including Hardware, Software, Edge and AI/HPC test environments.
- Set up, calibrate, operate, debug, and maintain laboratory equipment and test systems.
- Fabricate, modify, and assemble systems and prototypes for evaluation and testing.
- Assist engineers with experiments, product testing, validation, and debugging activities.
- Prepare test samples, fixtures, and prototypes according to engineering specifications.
- Collect, record, and organize test data; maintain accurate and complete lab documentation.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance and coordinate calibration for lab equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment and system issues; coordinate repairs and replacements as needed.
- Manage lab inventory, including tools, calibration schedules, components, consumables, and spare parts.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and security requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for lab processes, tools, and workflows.
- Create, document, and submit hardware and software Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Provide functional support to groups such as Technical Publications and Education, including printing, preparing, and deploying documentation.
What We're Looking For
- Associate degree or diploma in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in a laboratory or technical environment.
- Familiarity with common lab instruments (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, environmental chambers).
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings, schematics, and procedures.
- Basic computer skills (e.g., MS Excel, Word, data entry systems).
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting hardware, electrical, or mechanical testing.
- Knowledge of test automation, data acquisition systems, or scripting tools.
- Experience with quality standards, test documentation, or ISO procedures.
Work Mode
This position is onsite at our laboratory facilities.
