AECOM is hiring an Electrical Engineer - Substations (ROI)

About the Role

The role involves delivering electrical engineering solutions for substation projects, ensuring adherence to technical standards, client specifications, and safety regulations while collaborating with engineering and project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems for high-voltage substations
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings and schematics
  • Conduct power system studies and analysis
  • Ensure compliance with Irish and international electrical standards
  • Support project management throughout project lifecycle phases
  • Perform calculations for load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination
  • Review and approve vendor documentation
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and control systems teams
  • Carry out site inspections and technical surveys
  • Prepare technical specifications for equipment procurement
  • Assist in risk assessments and safety audits
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues during construction and commissioning
  • Validate system performance through testing and commissioning support
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and design records
  • Ensure designs meet environmental and regulatory requirements
  • Work with clients to understand project requirements
  • Support the development of project cost estimates and schedules
  • Review contractor submittals for technical accuracy
  • Apply engineering principles to optimize system reliability
  • Stay current with advancements in substation technology and practices
  • Participate in design reviews and engineering change processes
  • Ensure electromagnetic compatibility in system design
  • Integrate protection relays and control systems into substation layouts
  • Support quality assurance and quality control procedures
  • Assist in the handover of completed substation projects
