Tetra Tech is seeking an Electrical Engineer III to join our team. In this mid-level role, you will execute electrical engineering design and analysis tasks with moderate supervision to support project delivery. You'll be responsible for producing quality deliverables, coordinating with other disciplines, and resolving routine technical issues.
What You'll Do
- Lead a discipline engineering team on projects with guidance; supervise design personnel and specialists.
- Perform electrical engineering, design review, and assist in developing design standards and specifications.
- Serve as lead Engineer or technical expert on small to medium projects, planning and managing engineering activities.
- Maintain and comment on the schedule and budget of assigned projects.
- Perform power engineering tasks and calculations for industrial facilities, including Oil and Gas, Renewables, and Petrochemical.
- Support specification development for distribution switchgear, MCCs, panels, VFDs, and other equipment.
- Develop One-Lines and panel schedules, perform cable sizing, and conduct CAD drafting.
- Review vendor submittals and develop wiring diagrams based on vendor drawings.
- Research and resolve technical issues using all available tools and mentor less experienced engineers and designers.
- Make site visits for construction observation and execute practical, constructable design solutions.
- Follow QA/QC procedures, maintain organized project files, and contribute to continuous improvement of standards.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar ABET accredited engineering degree.
- 7-10+ years of relevant experience with course work in power engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
- Working understanding of the National Electrical Code and NFPA70E.
- Ability to create and understand One-Line Diagrams and Control Schematics.
- Proficiency with engineering tools such as ETAP and SKM.
- Proficient knowledge of symmetrical components, fault current calculations, and machine theory.
- Experience with medium voltage systems and protective devices, and construction/commissioning support.
- Solid understanding of scope, schedule, and budget for engineering tasks.
- Self-starter with the ability to work with senior engineers to apply standard electrical design approaches.
- Ability to logically organize work, delegate tasks, and collaborate productively across disciplines.
- Familiarity with the business and technical sides of electrical engineering.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite.
