As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Dephy, you will develop the embedded systems and analog circuits that power our wearable technologies. You’ll be responsible for prototyping, integrating, and validating hardware and firmware while collaborating closely with mechanical, software, and control engineers to build highly integrated electromechanical systems.
What You'll Do
- Develop and prototype analog circuits to power wearable devices.
- Work with microcontrollers and microprocessors to drive wearable devices.
- Design highly integrated electromechanical systems, software platforms, and controllers.
- Collaborate closely across disciplines with mechanical, software, and control engineers.
- Design and execute test plans, perform engineering analyses, and produce clear technical documentation.
- Bring up, debug, and validate hardware and associated firmware.
- Maintain electrical component inventory and support parts sourcing and lifecycle management.
- Apply systems-level engineering practices, including requirements management and trade-off analysis.
- Support product certification and compliance processes.
- Lead and manage cross-functional engineering projects, including planning and scheduling.
What We're Looking For
- Be a good human—get along with the team, build strong working relationships, and execute on Dephy’s Values.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record of designing PCBAs, sourcing quick-turn prototypes, and integrating them into complex electromechanical systems in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analog and digital circuit design skills, including mixed-signal systems involving microcontrollers, ADC/DACs, wired communications, switch-mode power supplies, and radio modules.
- Experience designing multi-layer PCBs with attention to signal integrity, EMC, and tight integration with mechanical assemblies.
- Proficiency with PCB design tools such as Altium, KiCAD, Eagle, or similar.
- Experience with high-speed digital circuits, including microprocessors, memory interfaces, and inter-processor communication.
- Hands-on experience bringing up, debugging, and validating hardware and associated firmware.
- Embedded programming on microcontrollers (e.g., STM32, PSoC) using C/C++.
- Knowledge of power electronics, motor control, and battery systems, including converters, inverters, BLDC/DC/stepper motors, PWM/FOC control strategies, and lithium-ion battery management concepts.
- Ability to design and execute test plans, perform engineering analyses, and produce clear technical documentation.
- Strong hands-on prototyping and debugging skills, including use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, and soldering equipment.
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines, troubleshoot issues, and clearly communicate technical concepts.
- Familiarity with relevant safety, EMC, and regulatory standards.
- Comfort working in a hands-on lab environment.
Nice to Have
- Apply systems-level engineering practices, including requirements management, trade-off analysis, and full participation in the product development lifecycle.
- Utilize tools such as SolidWorks, MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, and other engineering tools for design, modeling, and simulation.
- Implement and support hardware and firmware testing frameworks, including hardware-in-the-loop testing, CI/CD workflows, and Python-based test automation.
- Work with embedded communication protocols such as SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, and Ethernet.
- Apply knowledge of control theory, including PID control and state-space modeling, in embedded or electromechanical systems.
- Support product certification and compliance processes, including standards such as FCC, UL, and IEC.
- Contribute to the development of products involving radio communication technologies (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 802.15.4).
- Experience working on robotics, exoskeletons, active prostheses, or other advanced electromechanical systems.
- Lead and manage cross-functional engineering projects, including planning, scheduling, and communicating progress to stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ownership, attention to detail, and self-sufficiency.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers, co-ops, or interns.
