About the Role
The role involves assisting in the development of engineering plans, conducting site assessments, and supporting senior engineers with technical documentation and design calculations for public and private sector projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering calculations for structural and civil systems
- Assist in the preparation of construction drawings and technical specifications
- Conduct field inspections and site observations
- Support project teams with data collection and analysis
- Review design plans for compliance with applicable codes
- Collaborate with engineers and designers on project deliverables
- Utilize CAD and modeling software for design development
- Participate in project planning meetings
- Document field conditions and observations
- Assist in permitting and regulatory submittals
- Contribute to stormwater and drainage design components
- Support transportation infrastructure planning efforts
- Help evaluate existing structures for rehabilitation or replacement
- Prepare reports summarizing engineering findings
- Work with geotechnical data provided by consultants
- Apply principles of sustainable design practices
- Maintain accurate project records and files
- Coordinate with surveyors and other technical staff
- Assist in cost estimation for construction activities
- Follow safety protocols during field visits
