YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids was looking for an Early Learning Assistant Teacher

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking an Early Learning Assistant Teacher to support the planning, development, and implementation of classroom activities. This position provides face-to-face leadership within our early learning programs and requires availability Monday through Friday.

What You'll Do

  • Assist the Site Coordinator/Supervisor in developing and leading daily lesson plans.
  • Actively engage with infants, toddlers, and preschool children in the classroom.
  • Maintain supervision of children and records of attendance, arrival, and departure times.
  • Assist with daily parent communication and prepare materials for daily activities.
  • Support the Site Supervisor with parent-teacher conferences as needed.
  • Communicate efficiently with the classroom teaching team.
  • Perform other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA.

What We're Looking For

  • Ability to interact respectfully with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
  • Strong ability and desire to work with and care for infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
  • Blood Borne Pathogen training.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications (required within the first 60 days).
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT).
  • Fingerprinting and DHS clearance.

Nice to Have

  • An Associate's degree or CDA credential.
  • Three to six months of childcare-related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Team & Environment

You will report to and assist a Site Coordinator/Supervisor as part of a collaborative classroom teaching team.
