The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking an Early Learning Assistant Teacher to support the planning, development, and implementation of classroom activities. This position provides face-to-face leadership within our early learning programs and requires availability Monday through Friday.
What You'll Do
- Assist the Site Coordinator/Supervisor in developing and leading daily lesson plans.
- Actively engage with infants, toddlers, and preschool children in the classroom.
- Maintain supervision of children and records of attendance, arrival, and departure times.
- Assist with daily parent communication and prepare materials for daily activities.
- Support the Site Supervisor with parent-teacher conferences as needed.
- Communicate efficiently with the classroom teaching team.
- Perform other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to interact respectfully with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
- Strong ability and desire to work with and care for infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
- Blood Borne Pathogen training.
- CPR and First Aid certifications (required within the first 60 days).
- State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT).
- Fingerprinting and DHS clearance.
Nice to Have
- An Associate's degree or CDA credential.
- Three to six months of childcare-related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

You will report to and assist a Site Coordinator/Supervisor as part of a collaborative classroom teaching team.
