Ball Corporation is hiring a Director, Tax Administration and Compliance to lead the company's income tax accounting, reporting, and forecasting. In this role, you'll be responsible for US federal and state tax compliance, ASC 740 income tax provisions, and strategic tax planning, directly impacting our financial integrity and strategy.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate, manage, and prepare tax-related financial statement reporting, including quarterly/annual income tax provisions, deferred tax analysis, uncertain tax position reserves, footnote disclosures, and tax account reconciliations.
- Manage all US federal, state, and local income and franchise tax compliance to ensure timely filing of accurate returns.
- Oversee the Company's US federal, state, and local tax personnel and departments, providing professional development and performance assessments.
- Manage US federal and state tax audit activity, engaging with external auditors, governmental agencies, and consultants.
- Initiate and implement high-value tax strategies to minimize US taxes, working closely with business management.
- Advise management on the impact of proposed and new US federal and state tax laws, regulations, and rulings, and manage required implementation efforts.
- Analyze significant transactions and direct or perform research to ensure proper compliance with US tax rules.
- Maintain responsibility for computing quarterly income tax estimates, annual return extensions, and authorizing related cash tax payments.
- Ensure SOX 404 processes are followed, proper documentation is prepared and tested, and controls are monitored and modified.
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement to create best-in-class processes for tax reporting and compliance through system and process enhancements.
What We're Looking For
- Broad training in a related field acquired through college, graduate education, or work experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of job-related experience.
- Comprehensive expertise in US corporate income tax law, including the ability to read, interpret, and apply tax statutes to various business situations.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with staff and business leaders.
- Ability to work with domestic and foreign taxing authorities and outside tax professionals.
- Ability to independently conduct technical tax research, communicate findings clearly to non-experts, and document conclusions.
- Comprehensive understanding and ability to apply US GAAP guidance for accounting for income taxes.
- General understanding of financial information systems, including general ledger, consolidation, fixed asset, and tax compliance/planning software.
- Working knowledge of US international tax compliance, US sales and use tax law, US property tax law, foreign direct and indirect tax concepts, and corporate finance.

- CPA certification is preferred.

- Compensation range: $145,700 - $213,020
