Fehr Graham, a Trilon Group company, is hiring a Director of Water Resources Engineering to lead a team developing engineering designs for stormwater management, drainage, and transportation infrastructure projects for regional and local agencies in New Jersey. You will manage projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
What You'll Do
- Lead a project team of engineers, designers, and field personnel on water resources-related projects.
- Coordinate and conduct meetings with project stakeholders.
- Coordinate with office management and other project managers to share resources.
- Assist in proposal preparation, including oral presentations, and prepare scope, schedule, and budget for new projects.
- Interface with clients including state and local agencies.
- Work on challenging assignments investigating, troubleshooting, and solving engineering and construction-related issues.
- Prepare, review, and/or approve proposals, contracts, or cost estimates.
- Negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with sub-consultants and clients.
- Lead efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
- Coordinate design activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
- Prepare clear and concise reports and studies meeting client requirements.
- Perform independent reviews of work performed by others.
- Take ownership of projects from start to finish.
- Manage staff work assignments.
- Assist with workload projections for the department.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of Science Degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineering License in NJ.
- 15+ years of experience in water resource engineering and design.
- Knowledge of NJDEP SWM regulations.
- Ability to manage engineering, design, or construction projects.
- Experience with supervising staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Knowledge and experience with hydrologic and hydraulic software (e.g., HEC-RAS, Hydraflow, StormCAD, HydroCAD).
- Solid organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with clients and multi-discipline team members.
- Willingness to work on projects locally or in workshare with other offices.
- Possess a proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets.
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
