Responsibilities
- Oversee staff within the alumni relations department
- Design and execute engagement initiatives that connect alumni, inform the community, and elevate institutional reputation, such as Suffolk Weekend, 10 under 10 Recognition Night, Celebration of Black Excellence, and reunion events
- Lead the creation and management of volunteer frameworks for alumni
- Support fundraising activities including Day of Giving, Reunion Giving, and Class Giving by involving volunteers meaningfully
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define goals and strategies for alumni relations within advancement
- Partner closely with senior leadership to build an inclusive, comprehensive engagement strategy for over 90,000 alumni, encouraging annual giving participation
- Organize, market, and execute alumni-focused events and programs
- Provide strategic oversight of alumni relations and collaborate with teams in Annual Giving, Stewardship, and Donor Relations
- Meet performance targets set by Advancement Engagement and Alumni Relations
- Foster cross-departmental partnerships to integrate alumni perspectives into campus-wide initiatives
- Support advancement communication efforts across platforms
- Lead a team of 2–4 full-time alumni relations professionals
- Develop annual operating plans and individual performance goals for the team and program
- Recruit and onboard new team members as needed
- Serve as an inspiring and supportive manager
- Manage a network of more than 100 volunteer leaders
- Act as staff liaison and ex-officio member for alumni boards such as CAS, SBS, or Law Alumni Board
- Cultivate strong relationships with alumni volunteers
- Oversee the identification, recruitment, and development of board members aligned with institutional diversity and strategic goals
- Collaborate with advancement leaders and volunteers to review and update volunteer governance policies and structures
- Engage peer institutions to exchange best practices in volunteer management

- Hybrid schedule: three days per week in the office and two days remote
- Additional in-office presence may be required based on business needs, event schedules, and operational priorities
- On remote days, the Director is expected to be fully available during regular working hours and responsive to colleagues, volunteers, and campus partners
- In-office days may occasionally shift to accommodate event preparation and key responsibilities
