HII Mission Technologies is hiring a DevOps Engineer

About the Role

HII Mission Technologies is looking for a Junior DevOps Engineer to join our Enlighten team. In this role, you will implement infrastructure, automate deployment processes, and ensure the monitoring, reliability, and scalability of our services. You will work in a hybrid environment (on average 2-3 days per week in our Columbia, MD office) with a collaborative team.

What You'll Do

  • Support development and deployment of cloud infrastructure in AWS, especially EKS.
  • Support development and deployment of non-cloud (Edge) infrastructure of on-premise and portable equipment.
  • Automate deployment processes and ensure reliability and scalability of services.
  • Manage and maintain Kubernetes containers and cloud infrastructure on AWS.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate their applications into the infrastructure.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production systems and resolve issues as necessary.
  • Continuously improve processes and tools to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Stay current with new technologies and industry trends.

What We're Looking For

  • Security Clearance – A U.S. Government Security Clearance is not required on first day, but will be processed for one; U.S. citizenship is required. Can also consider candidates with a current Secret level clearance.
  • 2+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering or Software Development and Bachelors in related field; or 0 years relevant experience with Masters; or High School Diploma and 6 years relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS services (EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda).
  • Proficient knowledge of Linux, including system administration and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Experience with application, container, and OS deployment, scaling, and management.
  • Ability to develop in multiple programming languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Familiarity with Git, Flux, and other development and deployment tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies.
  • DoD 8570 compliance required (e.g., Security+). Must be active or obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be able to work in a hybrid environment in Columbia, MD. On average 2-3 days per week with ability to flex if needed.

Nice to Have

  • Current Secret level or above U.S. Government clearance.
  • Experience with big data technologies like: Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, Presto, etc.
  • Experience with K9s, AWS CLI and other AWS services like SNS, SQS and Diode.

Work Mode
