MetroStar is hiring a Desktop Engineer

The Sr. Desktop Engineer I is responsible for maintaining secure and compliant endpoint environments across Windows and macOS platforms in a high-security federal setting. This role emphasizes operational reliability, rapid technical delivery, and active participation in Agile methodologies to support critical government missions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within a high-performing team to deliver technical solutions for senior levels of the federal government
  • Oversee endpoint imaging, system patching, and remediation of security vulnerabilities across enterprise networks
  • Operate and support enterprise-grade endpoint management tools and platforms
  • Resolve complex Tier 3 technical issues to support service desk functions and mission-critical operations
  • Ensure Windows and macOS client systems remain secure and compliant with regulatory standards
  • Engage in Agile workflows and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Clearly communicate technical challenges, resolutions, and potential risks to stakeholders
  • Build and maintain strong customer trust through consistent technical performance and reliability
  • Apply innovative engineering approaches and sound judgment to meet mission-specific requirements

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance with current or prior SCI eligibility
  • Hold Microsoft MD-102 and Security+ certifications
  • Possess a DoD 8140-compliant certification for the 451 System Administrator role, such as Security+, Cloud+, SSCP, CASP+, or CISSP
  • Minimum of 5 years of IT experience focused on managing endpoints and client devices in Windows 11, macOS Sequoia, macOS Tahoe, and Apple iOS environments
  • Proven hands-on experience with OS imaging, patch management, performance troubleshooting, and vulnerability remediation in large-scale environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing the full lifecycle of endpoint devices including provisioning, configuration, maintenance, and decommissioning
  • Operational background in delivering Tier 3 endpoint support with advanced troubleshooting capabilities
  • Direct experience administering endpoint management platforms such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Microsoft Intune, Jamf, Tanium, or BigFix
  • Ability to integrate quickly and contribute effectively in a mission-critical operational environment with minimal onboarding time

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in an IT-related field preferred; relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education

Compensation

Annual salary range of $147,000 to $193,000. Includes performance-based bonuses, company-paid training and certifications, referral bonuses, and additional incentives tied to individual and organizational performance.
